People in immigration custody awaiting deportation are forced to do work for merely a dollar a day, even though they’re not in the detention facility because of committing a crime. Forced labor is only constitutional when it's to punish or correct criminal inmates. Working for only a couple percent (!) of the minimum wage without having any other options comes awfully close to slavery.
