America's social safety net
The US should be investing more in welfare benefits instead of cutting back. The majority of Americans will live in poverty at some point in their lives. With a steadier safety net, people will be more able to get their life in order and find a way to contribute to society. Children growing up in poverty learn fewer skills and therefore have less ways to contribute to the American economy later in life. They more often end up in crime and experience more health problems. More welfare benefits will increase the quality of life, improve society and have a positive effect on the economy.
