France recently banned women from wearing the burkini (burqini? I’ve seen it spelled both ways). I understand that France is a secular country, but does it go too far by banning a type of clothing? From what I can tell from pictures of burkinis, they aren’t over-the-top fundamentalist or anything along those lines. I think it all boils down to discrimination against Muslims. We all know France has been the number one target for ISIS and that can lead to hate, but banning the burkini isn’t going to solve anything. In fact, the only thing it is going to do is prevent Muslim husbands and fathers from letting their women go to the pool or beach because they can’t dress according to their religion.
