Do Military Leaders Make Better Presidents?

From Teddy Roosevelt to Kennedy to Eisenhower military leaders have proven to be very effective Presidents.  They care less about party politics and more about results, they know patience, hardship, courage and duty in ways that no life-long politician or career bureaucrat can.  Military leaders have cultivated pragmatic non-ideological solutions to issues and, history has shown they are hesitant to use military force as a first or second option to conflict because they understand the horrors of battle as well as the costs.
