From the InsideNoVa editorial board: It was almost exactly a year ago that two related news stories broke within an hour of each other. First, Potomac Nationals owner Art Silber announced that the team’s deal with Prince William County for a new stadium had fallen apart and that he would be looking elsewhere. And then, fresh off his near-upset of Ed Gillespie in the Republican gubernatorial primary, County Board Chairman Corey Stewart announced he would challenge Tim Kaine in this year’s U.S. Senate race. Fast forward 12 months. The Potomac Nationals have a deal to leave Prince William and head south to Fredericksburg. Were Stewart more focused on the county he was elected to serve instead of trying to grab national headlines he might have been able to engineer a deal to keep the P-Nats in Prince William.
