The NFL’s audience is shrinking and the question is “why?” There have been some minor rule changes, but the game is still pretty much the same as it always has been. The only thing that really changes are the players. Some players, such as Colin Kaepernick, have started protesting the National Anthem and the majority of fans dislike that. Ed Morrissey summed it up well, “When sports becomes another politicized arena for multi-millionaires to lecture the fans that provide their celebrity lifestyle, it comes as no surprise that the fans will get turned off – and turn the channel.” I myself feel more disconnected from the NFL than I used to be. Instead of disliking teams because of rivalry, I dislike teams because of certain players. I’d say the only thing keeping me watching is my fantasy football league with a bunch of old college buddies. Do you agree that it’s the players responsible for the decline in viewership or is it something else?
