Oculus Rift

The Oculus Rift started pre-orders and the price is $599.99! That is not even close to the range they originally promised us. We were told, “We want to stay in that $200-$400 price range. That could slide in either direction depending on scale, pre-orders, the components we end up using, business negotiations… Whatever it is, it’s going to be as cheap as possible. That’s really the goal.” Either they lied to us when they told us the price range or they lied that they want it to be as cheap as possible. I feel sorry for the virtual reality game developers. They have been working hard for years with the belief that when the Oculus Rift is released it will have a huge user base. I don’t see that being the case when it has a price tag of $600. We’ll see how much the HTC Vive is when it comes out, but I have a feeling it will be even more. Unless they can lower the price quite a bit, I don’t think virtual reality gaming will ever take off.
