Oscar Boycott

For the second consecutive year, no African Americans were nominated for an Academy Award resulting in Spike Lee and Jada Pinkett Smith leading a boycott against the award ceremony. They claim that the academy is racist and purposefully don’t nominate black people. Really, all 6,000+ members of the Academy are racist? Come on. They should have at least done some research before going public. Turns out that the number of black actors, nominees, and winners are all in line with the size of America’s overall black population. As it should be. It just so happens that in the past two years there haven’t been any all-star performances by a black person. Don’t even try to tell me that Will Smith should have been nominated for Concussion, his accent was terrible. Anyway, who knows, we could have five black people nominated next year. Statistically it will all work out in the long run.
