It’s coming out that Peyton Manning might not be the good guy who everyone thought he was. Turns out that 20 years ago, when he was quarterback at the University of Tennessee, he sexually assaulted a sports trainer, Jamie Whited. While she was wrapping his foot, he put his genitals on her face. Manning says it was an accident, he was trying to moon a teammate and slipped. Well the teammate that he was supposedly trying to moon, Malcolm Saxon, refuted Manning’s account. The incident led to a lawsuit by Whited that was settled with the agreement that she leave the university…? Seems like a strange outcome to the case. Turns out that the University of Tennessee has a history of covering up sexual assault charges against its student-athletes. In the past few years, 10 players from UTK have had sexual assault charges resurface, including Manning.
Does this change your opinion on Peyton Manning? He just won the Super Bowl and is most likely going to retire as one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time. He’s been very charitable and well behaved ever since the incident. Personally, I chalk it up to him being a stupid college kid who made a mistake. I wish he had fed up to it when it happened and been done with it, but you can’t change the past. This one incident doesn’t make Manning a bad person.
