Veteran journalist Dan Rather once said something along the lines of, journalism is about exposing corrupt governments. Everything else is public relations. (https://www.udemy.com/danrather/) As news organizations have evolved over the years in response to the digital age among other things, so has the definition of news. What does news mean to you?
Over the years, fresh news organizations have cropped up, reporting on specific topics. "Southerly" (https://southerlymag.org) reports on topics concerning the US South. "Propublica" (https://www.propublica.org) investigates abuses of power. "ICIJ" has reported on international abuses (https://www.icij.org). "Longreads" and "Narrative.ly" do longform, narrative arc stories/reportage.
QUESTION: What kind of news stories do you want to see more of?
