I really don't think the media "sensationalizes" suicide.
They've made whole movies about torture, and I meant it's just as insensitive because people who have been tortured most usually have PTSD and can have memories that they don't want to have come back up be brought up. I agree though that reporting all the "gory details" is pretty disrespectful, but it's what happened. Reality is hard, but we have to get used to it.
Suicide is one of many ways a person can die. In some cultures it can even be the proper way to die. Yes, it is a terrible thing, but should the media make steps to baby the reality that it is to prevent "influencing" people to make the same mistake? Torture is without a doubt worse then suicide, but we report and televise it, even make it into entertainment, without fear of "triggering" people into committing those types of crimes. Yes, they are very different things, but they are both a reality that should be reported as such, for when those things happen we like to know, and know everything.
